An Actor, Director, Writer and Producer, Cynthia White has coached hundreds of professional actors and acting students all over the country and world through her company, IndependentActor NYC, an acting and career coaching consultancy featuring the Dramatic Rescue career makeover seminar. Her company has been profiled by The Fund for Women Artists for her amazing 99% success rate with clients auditioning for graduate and undergraduate acting programs and she has been sought after for her career makeovers of professional actors. Cynthia is a frequent speaker on panels discussing careers in the arts at colleges and high schools including NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, Moravian College in Pennsylvania, Pace University, The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute program at NYU, The High School for Performing Arts, and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis High School in New York City. She also teaches at the New York Film Academy and the Academy of Cinema and Television in five cities. Cynthia was featured on the London Weekend Television prime time series, NYLON, focusing on her coaching of British actors in New York City.
A 2002 recipient of the New York Foundation for the Arts Artist Grant, White graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts with a B.F.A. in Drama. She studied for eight years at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York and London and was a master student of Anna Strasberg for four years. She studied dramatic literature at the Universities of Trinity in Dublin and Surrey in England, where she performed in the Joan Plowright production of The Cherry Orchard at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre and was mentored by Laurence Olivier, Bernard Miles, Peter Jackson and Derek Jacobi. While touring as Imogen in Shakespeare's Cymbeline in Russia, she taught sensory workshops at the Moscow Art Theatre.
Ms. White was most recently seen as Margie in the hit Off-Broadway production of Theresa Rebeck's, Loose Knit, which she co-produced and directed. Additional producing and directing credits include the staged reading On Demand at Manhattan Theatre Club, the world premiere of Spades at the Pantheon Theater, Lee Blessing's Independence at Pulse, On the Edge at CAP 21, Angevin by Four at the 78th Street Theater, The Rivals and Skirmishes at Theosophical Society in London and the one-woman show, Material Girls, Spiritual Woman at the 78th Street Theater in which she also starred. Other recent acting credits: Maggie in Dancing in Lughnasa at the Rockaway Playhouse, Kilgarden at Circle Rep and independent film, City.com which ran at The Screening Room in Tribeca. White has worked extensively in Great Britain and Ireland where she was an apprentice with the venerable Royal Shakespeare Company and a member of the distinguished Joan White English Theatre Company at the Abbey and Gate Theatres. Her voice can be heard on cartoons and commercials for television and radio including Comcast Cable, Adopt-A-Waterway, ChevronTexaco, Canadia Diamonds, L'Oreal, USA Networks and Lifetime Television. Cynthia is the voice of sci-fi warrior, Kaj of the Fvost in the Black Hammer video game, Supremacy: Four Paths to Power.
As a producer for MTV Networks and national industrial tours for Nintendo, Pepsi and Reebok, Ms. White learned the business side of the industry and has cast for network television.
Writing credits include the comedy pilot The Dirty Divas, co-written with comedian Robbyne Kaamil for Sirius Satellite Radio and the one-woman show, Sink or Swim. Her soon to be published book on acting is titled, Get Me That Actor: A No Nonsense Guide To Unlocking the Secret of Your Castable Types so You Can Ace Every Audition, Book Roles You Love and Have the Career of Your Dreams.
A lifelong, rabid Mets fan, member of AEA, SAG, and adjunct member of The Broadway League, Cynthia lives in Manhattan with her beloved West Highland White Terrier.
